Complications Recognition & Management Theory
Injectable complications in depth: vascular occlusion, infection, nodules, toxin spread and more, with management principles and protocols.
About this course
This is the injector-level companion to Complications Awareness. It covers the recognition, timeline and management principles for the complications that follow filler and toxin treatment: vascular occlusion and the hyaluronidase protocol, infection and biofilm, delayed nodules, Tyndall effect, toxin spread and asymmetry, and the escalation pathways for visual compromise.
It is theory. Managing a complication requires practical training, the right kit and, for prescription-only medicines including hyaluronidase, an appropriate prescriber.
Who it is for: Practising injectors.
Entry: Intended for practising injectors.
What you will be able to do
- Recognise vascular occlusion early and describe the response protocol.
- Distinguish infection, biofilm and inflammatory nodules and their management principles.
- Describe management principles for toxin-related adverse effects.
- Explain escalation pathways, including for visual symptoms.
- Maintain an emergency kit and protocol appropriate to injectable practice.

Theory and professional development. This online course provides theory and professional development. It does not, by itself, confirm hands-on practical competency. Where practical competency is required, appropriate supervised practical training and assessment should also be completed. The Academy delivers that practical training in Chichester, Petersfield and Eastergate.
