Skin Anatomy & Physiology
The skin in depth: layers, cells, appendages, function and how it changes with age, environment and hormones.
About this course
Everything a skin practitioner does depends on understanding the organ they are treating. This course covers the epidermis, dermis and subcutis, the cells that build and repair them, the barrier, pigmentation, sebaceous and sweat glands, hair, blood supply and the skin's role in immunity and temperature control.
It closes with the processes that change skin over time: intrinsic ageing, photo-ageing, hormonal influence and lifestyle, so that later treatment courses make sense.
Who it is for: Beginners, beauty therapists and practitioners moving into skin treatments.
